Why Printly exists.
A failed print can cost hours of printing and a pile of wasted filament. Printly is a quick check of your print file before you start, for anyone who owns an FDM 3D printer.
Who it helps
People who print at home, at school or at work and would rather catch a problem on screen than on the build plate. If you are new to 3D printing, it is a second opinion before a long print. If you have printed for years, it is a quick look at the parts of a slice that tend to cause trouble.
What it does
Many failed prints come down to familiar causes: a bridge that is too long, an overhang with little underneath, a small first layer that lets go, or a tall, thin part that gets knocked over. Printly flags possible risks like these in your print file and suggests what to check in your slicer.
What happens to your files
When you check a file, it is sent to the Printly server, and the uploaded copy is deleted as soon as the check finishes. The result may stay in the server's memory for a while so the same file opens faster; it is not saved to disk.
Your file is not kept unless you choose to share it with feedback from inside Printly. The feedback form tells you what it stores and for how long.
